Welcome to the Wyre Forest and District U3A! We are a lively and friendly bunch of people and we warmly welcome new Members!
U3A stands for "University of the Third Age". We are not a formal university and no qualifications are necessary for membership. The word is used in the wide context of groups of people with common interests, not necessarily intellectual. It is an association with a wide range of study and leisure activities for those no longer in full-time employment.
The U3A approach to learning is learning for fun, not qualifications. "Learn, Laugh and Live" is its motto! Wyre Forest and District has around 500 members and a wide range of Interest Groups which reflect the interests of our members. Our groups are self-led; members organise the meetings, sometimes in a hall, sometimes in a member's home and sometimes out of doors. There are around 60 interest groups and some groups also organise theatre trips, visits, study tours and holidays. There is something for everyone - or if there isn't, a new group can easily be formed!
General Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month (with the exception of August when we do not meet) at 2.00pm in Kidderminster Town Hall when we have a talk or demonstration on a wide range of interesting topics, information on group activities, a book stall, refreshments and, most importantly, the opportunity to meet and chat with fellow members.
Prospective members are most welcome to come and sample what we have to offer. They can visit up to three groups or events before deciding to join us.
Membership fees are £17.00 per person per year which includes free admission to the monthly meeting.
Non-members pay £1.50 for the monthly meeting and may attend up to 3 meetings or group activities before deciding to join the U3A.
